MP28 1903 MAP OF THE SAN
JUAN TRIANGLE (With Revisions) In the
years around 1900 Clason Map Company of Denver, Colorado produced a half dozen
or so maps of the San Juan Mining area. All of these are now exceedingly rare!
The publisher of this map has compiled two of these maps from 1903 and 1905 into
a large (33” x 37”) single edition, added their own details ( such as the
location of towns), compiled a detailed sixty-two page index to make it easy to
find the mines and enhanced the color. This map and index is handy for locating
the approximately 5,000 mines in the Telluride-Ouray-Silverton and Ouray region.
The map can also be used in reverse – to discover the names of unknown San Juan
mines. The index also includes the interesting advertisements from the original
version. This map comes folded along with the sixty-two pages index. Very Nice!

CS CENTRAL MINE CHISEL
CHIPS (circa approx. 1906) The early
Michigan copper miners were “fissure” miners, in which the copper had been
deposited in large masses. “One mass of copper from the Cliff Mine was
documented to be as large as 520 tons.” Cutting these masses was time-consuming
in which the hammer and chisel were the tools of choice. Cutting through the
copper mass in this manner produced countless pieces of copper debris, commonly
called “chisel chips”. These chips are now eagerly sought by collectors. The
chisel chips that I have available range in size from approx. 3” to 5” in length
and approx. 5/8” wide. 3” long Chisel Chip $10.95 postpaid.
