H208  ROCHESTER, NEVADA: THE NEW TONOPAH by Marianne Babal, 1997. Rochester was a late mining rush, beginning with discoveries in 1912 at the south end of the northern Nevada’s Humboldt Range. It was one of the last mining rushes to produce a substantial town with up to 2,000 people, yet little of Rochester remains today. Excellent photos, large size, soft cover. $11.00 pp.

H633  THE RUSH TO WHITE PINE by Alan H. Patera, 1988. The mining rush to White Pine District in northeastern Nevada in1868 was certainly not the largest or most significant of the mining rushes of the 19th century, nor did it have a lasting impact in

MF  MINING FRONTIERS OF THE FAR WEST 1848-1880 by Rodman Wilson Paul. Revised and expanded edition by Elliott West, 2001. H1010 CALUMET CONGLOMERATE: AN EXPLORATION AND DISCOVERY MADE BY EDWIN J. HULBERT 1854-1864 (Reprint, 2008) This is an interesting series of letters originally published in the ONTONAGON MINER, Ontonagon, Michigan in the year 1893. “The discovery of so valuable a vein of copper is a matter of importance to the present and future history of Lake Superior. It is well to have the story from the discoverer while he is alive, and we are glad to present it now from the pen of Mr. Hulbert.” This is a reprint of a very scarce book, well worth reading!! 148 pages, soft cover. $16.95 pp.

H512  CALUMET AND HECLA CONSOLIDATED COPPER CO. (Approx. 1931) Reprinted, 2006 by Robert Fox. My goal in reprinting this publication is to share the depth of its historical information and excellent photos with people who have an interest in Michigan’s copper mining history. This is one of the most informative publications that you will read covering the Calumet & Hecla Consolidated Copper Company. A well researched graphic account of the worst underground fire in a hard rock mine in American history. On May  2, 1972, 174 miners entered the Sunshine Mine in Kellogg, Idaho on their daily quest for silver. When the alarm sounded, less than half of the day shift was able to return to the surface. JWF  JOY MFG.  RAM ROCK DRILL WATCH FOB – Approx. 1 ¾” high x 1 3/8” wide, copper color metal with raised views of the Ram VCR260 Rock Drill. Joy logo is also on the watch fob. The copper color has been shaded to highlight areas of the watch fob. Fob has a black strap with gold buckle. Like new! $25.00 pp.

CTB1 C & H COPPER TEST BILLET – This copper test billet was used to check the crystalline pattern of the copper in the Calumet & Hecla laboratory which was located in Calumet, Michigan. The test billet is approx. 2 ¼” long x 1 1/8” high x  1 1/8” wide. The numbers 2 10 2B are stamped in the side of the billet. One end has been cut to expose the copper structure. Unusual! $22.95 pp.

CL3  CARBIDE LAMP – GUYS DROPPER – Manufactured by Shanklin Mfg. Co., Springfield, Illinois. The lamp is brass, approximately 3 ¾” tall with 13/16” wide spade hook, 2 ¾” diameter reflector, excellent condition. $55.00 pp.

CBT  CORNISH BRASS TAG – This tag comes from the White Haven Mine. The tag is approximately 1 1/8” square with rounded corners. In the center is the number 1250 with W.H. at the bottom. Good condition. $20.00 pp.

HMC1  HANNA MINING COMPANY 10 YEAR SERVICE PIN – Very attractive pin with Hanna logo in read and white in the center of the pin with a gold background. A blue color edge around the logo has The Hanna Mining Company in gold letters. On the top of the pin in raised letters is 10 Years. Neat pin! $21.95 pp.

HMC2 HANNA MINING COMPANY 15 YEAR SERVICE PIN – Same as above (HMC1), but 15 Years of Service. Another neat pin. $21.95 pp.

CRI  COPPER RANGE COPPER INGOT – This unusual ingot from Copper Range’s White Pine Mine in White Pine, Michigan is approx. 7” long x 2 ¼” wide x 1 ¼” high. CR is cast in the ingot in 1” high letters. Three 5/16” diameter holes are spaced across the length of the ingot, but do not go through the ingot. The ends of the ingot are rounded. Weighs approx. 6 pounds. Excellent condition. $189.95 pp.

CRT – COPPER RANGE/WHITE PINE COPPER CO. TAPE MEASURE 1976. “Sharp” looking stainless steel tape measure. On one side in blue, green and gold colors is printed “National Safety Council Award of Honor: For An Outstanding Safety Performance White Pine Copper Co. 1976.” The Safety Council logo is in green color. On the reverse side in orange and black is Copper Range at the top and White Pine at the bottom of the logo with Lake Copper in black print through the center. Excellent condition. $25.95 pp.

In the mid-to-late 1840s, Michigan’s copper resources were rediscovered by state geologist Douglass Houghton, setting off a mining boom rivaled only by the gold rush of 1849. H922  TIFFANY BLUE by Patricia McCrew, 2006. Patricia is the great-granddaughter of  James P. MP28b ROLLED 1903 MAP OF THE SAN JUAN TRIANGLE (With Revisions). In the years around 1900 Clason Map Company of Denver, CO, produced a half dozen or so maps of the San Juan Mining area. All of these are now exceedingly rare! The publisher of this map has compiled two of these maps from 1903 and 1905 into a large (33”x37”) single edition, added their own detail such as the location of towns and enhanced the color. This map is now available rolled and mailed to you in a mailing tube. Neat map to have framed! $21.95 pp.

H14  A HISTORY OF MINING IN IOWA COUNTY by Stanley T. Holland, 1983. The author was one of the oldest mine operators in Iowa County, Wisconsin and tells about the lead and zinc mining in southwestern Wisconsin. KCS COPPER/SILVER HALFBREED – KEARSARGE LODE – HOUGHTON COUNTY, MICHIGAN This interesting specimen is approximately 1” high x 1” wide x ½” thick. Silver and green epidote are surrounded by copper. Silver also protrudes from the side and back of the specimen. An eye catching specimen! $30.00 pp.
