H925  OURAY & SAN MIGUEL MINING 1882-3 by William Weston, 2006. In late 1882 and 1883, William Weston, a mining engineer and promoter, corresponded with Denver newspapers about the mines of Ouray County. Eventually this rare publication which gives details about every active Colorado mine at the time, came about as a result of this correspondence. 164 pages, 45 photographs and illustrations, 1 map, soft cover. $14.95 pp.

H1083 A TRIP TO PIKE’S PEAK & NOTES BY THE WAY by C.M. Clark, 2009. Originally published in Chicago, 1861. When gold nuggets were found in Clear Creek in 1859, the cry “Pikes Peak or Bust” swept the nation, and the “Rush to the Rockies” began in earnest. In 1860, better informed and more sophisticated gold seekers joined the rush. It was into this flood of almost 100,000 “Pike’s Peakers” that Dr. Charles M. Clark plunged and from the copious notes he kept during his travels and of his experiences in the gold fields themselves. Clark produced this interesting book! 197 pages, illustrations, soft cover. $22.95 pp.

H1084 THE ROAD THAT SILVER BUILT: THE MILLION DOLLAR HIGHWAY by P. David Smith, 2009. H286  HISTORIC LEADVILLE IN RARE PHOTOGRAPHS AND DRAWINGS by Christian J. Buys. Leadville is Colorado’s premier boom town – at one time the largest town in Colorado. 244 pages, large size, over 250 photographs and illustrations, hardcover with dust jacket. A really neat book! $45.95 pp.

MP28  1903 MAP OF THE SAN JUAN TRIANGLE (With Revisions) in the years around 1900 Clason Map Company of Denver, Colorado, produced a half dozen or so maps of the San Juan Mining area. All of these are now exceedingly rare! The publisher of this map has compiled two of these maps from1903 and 1905 into a large (33” x 37”) single edition, added their own details (such as  the location of towns),  compiled a detailed sixty-two pages index to make it easy to find the mines and enhanced the color. This map and index is handy for locating the approximately 5,000 mines in the Telluride-Ouray-Silverton region. The map can also be used in reverse – to discover the names of unknown San Juan mines. The index also includes the interesting advertisements from the original version. This map comes folded along  with the sixty-two pages index. $25.95 pp.

G2  SPECULAR HEMATITE CLOCK – Specular hematite is one of the most hard iron ore forms. It has relatively coarse-grained micaeous plates with a bright metallic mirror-like sparkle against the black hematite. A silver color clock is mounted in this piece of specular hematite. Size approx. 5” high x 3 ½” wide x 1 ¼” thick. The bottom of the clock is protected with cork. This piece of specular hematite came from Michigan’s iron range. $39.95 pp.

G3  JASPILITE CLOCK – This clock  has neat layers of red jasper and steel gray hematite, commonly known as jaspilite.. This rock formed approximately 2 ½ billion years ago. The jaspilite for this clock came from the iron range of the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. A gold color clock is mounted in the rock. The clock is approx. 5” high x 5” wide at the bottom and 2” wide at the top and 1” thick. The left side is vertical, while the right side is at an angle. The bottom is protected with cork. MM30 COPPER RANGE/WHITE PINE MINE STAINLESS STEEL POCKET KNIFE – A neat looking pocket knife approximately 2” long x 1” wide. MM32 KEY CHAIN MEDALLION – CALUMET, MI TOWNSHIP BICENTENNIAL 1776-1976. On one side is a mine shaft with 1776-1876 on the left hand side and Calumet Township Bicentennial Celebration around the bottom of the medallion. On the reverse side in the center are U.S. flags and an eagle with 1776, 1976 above and below the flags. Around the outside is United States of America Bicentennial with stars. Approx. 1 ½” diameter. $22.50 pp.

MM34 SET OF 15 HISTORIC POSTCARDS OF GHOST TOWNS AND MINING CAMPS OF SOUTHERN NEVADA – Cards are approximately 5 ¾” x 4 ¼”. $9.50 pp.

MM35 ARCADIAN COPPER MINE COPPER DISH – Very ornate and scarce! Shaped like a football with a circular top that protrudes up. In the circular section is a raised view of miners drilling, while in the other portion of the dish are raised views of trammers at work and a miner pushing an ore cart. Below the miner is Hancock, Michigan. In ornate cut-out letters around the outside is Underground Tours with a pick and shovel and at the bottom Arcadian Copper Mine. Size approximately 6” long x 5” high. A really neat item! $98.00 pp.

MM36 RESERVE MINING CO. BELT BUCKLE – Brass, approximately 3 1/8” x 2”. At the top of the buckle is: MINE DEPARTMENT SAFETY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. The Reserve Mining Co. logo is in the center of the buckle. 1,000,000 Injury Free Man Hours October 23, 1979 is at the bottom. $35.00 pp.

MM37 WHITE PINE COPPER INGOT – This ingot is approximately 3” long x 3/8”high x 3/8” wide. WP is in raised letters on the top center of the ingot. Getting scarce! $45.00 pp.

MM38 COPPER CHISEL CHIP – This is an unusual chisel chip as originally it was approximately 8” long, but must have been near a blast and became two twisted sections of copper connected by a thin band of copper. Thought to be from the Cliff Mine, but the location is not certain. $47.50 pp.

MM40 COPPER RANGE COPPER INGOT – This unusual ingot from Copper Range’s White Pine Mine in White Pine, Michigan is approximately 7” long x 2 ¼” wide  x 1 ¼” high. CR is cast in the ingot in 1” high letters. Three 5/16’ diameter holes are spaced across the length of the ingot, but do not go through the ingot. The ends of the ingot are round. This ingot weighs approximately 6 pounds. $99.95 pp.

MM41 DUNLAP’S PITTSBURG OIL WICK LAMP – This lamp is in very good condition. The lamp is approximately 2 ½” high. The wording DUNLAP’S PITTSBURGH is in raised letters along the top edge of the lamp. $125.00 pp.

COPPER “SKULLS” – “The “skulls” which came from the Centennial #6  Mine, Houghton County, Michigan are copper deposited around the cobbles in a conglomerate lode. The cobble is broken up and removed, leaving the “skull.” The copper shows the blue/green oxidation to malachite or azurite.”

 CS1  COPPER “SKULL.” – This “skull” is shaped like a ball with a flat top. It is hollow with an opening approx. 2 ½” x 1 ½”.  Overall size is approximately 5” x 4” x  2 ½”. A portion of the “skull” has a green patina. This is a top quality specimen and weighs approximately 2 pounds. $325.00 pp.

CS2  COPPER “SKULL” – A neat “skull” open on the front and sides. Size is 3” wide x 4” deep x 3” high. Colorful reddish copper with a green patina. Weighs approx. 12 ounces. $125.00 pp.

CS3  COPPER “SKULL” – This is an interesting specimen with copper rising up from the back of the “skull”. Size approx. 4” deep x 3” wide. A bowl shaped bottom is approx. 1” deep. Pretty green patina covers the specimen. $110.00

FM11 COPPER CRYSTALS – IRON CITY EXPLORATION, KEWEENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN. Size approx. 1 ½” x 1 ½” x 1” high. Nice crystals along with copper on calcite on l.h. corner. Neat specimen. $80.00 pp.

FM12 QUARTZ VARIETY – HERKIMER DIAMOND, HERKIMER, NEW YORK. Sharp looking specimen with two large crystals, one clear and the other containing black hydro carbon inclusions. Approx. 2” long x 1 ½” wide x 1” high. $59.00 pp.

FM13 COPPER CRYSTALS – WHITE PINE MINE, WHITE PINE, MICHIGAN. Two dimensional crystal growth. Size approx. 4 ¼” long x 3 ¼” high. Interesting specimen! $32.00 pp.

FM15 DATOLITE, BASALT & PREHNITE – QUINCY MINE, HANCOCK, MICHIGAN – An interesting swirl pattern of green, white, cream and brown colors. Size approx. 1 ¾”long x 1 ½”high x ½” wide. $75.00 pp.

FM16 COPPER CRYSTALS – PAINESDALE MINE – A sharp looking older specimen! Nice vug of copper along with copper protruding out from the front of the specimen. In the back is layered calcite. Toward the top is a small vug of crystals. Size 2” long x 1 ¾” high x 1 ¼” wide. $89.95 pp.

FM17 CALCITE/COPPER – CALEDONIA MINE, ONTONAGON COUNTY, MICHIGAN. Large calcite crystal approx. ¾” square perched on a matrix with copper, adularia, epidote, malachite and numerous small calcite crystals. Copper protrudes out from the large calcite crystal. Size approx. 1 ½” long x 1 1/8” high x 1” wide. Was mined 11/98. Knowlton Lode, 4th level, 450’ stope. A beauty! $150.00 pp.

FM19 QUARTZ CRYSTALS WITH CHLORIDE – OJIBWAY MINE, MI. This specimen is full of crystals. Size approx. 2” wide x 2 ¼” high x 1 ¾” wide. $40.00 pp.

FM23  ROPES GOLD MINE DRILL CORE – Approx. 7” long x 1 7/8” diameter. This drill core shows numerous minerals. The Ropes Gold Mine is located near Ishpeming, Michigan. $20.95 pp.
